What does P.A.W. Mean?

“Person-Athlete-Warrior”. When you step outside of your comfort zone and challenge yourself you will develop as a Person. You will build strength and conditioning and become an Athlete. Heart is what turns a person into a Warrior. Through training, sweat, and passion, you will develop confidence and accomplish things you never thought possible.

“The more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in battle”.

About the Owner …

Gym founder Phil Menagh (PJ) became passionate about exercise science as a high school athlete—spending much time in the library reading training and nutrition books to help get stronger. He was Summa cum laude at Oregon State in the Nutrition and Exercise Science program. He also interned for the Bone Research Lab in the College of Health and Human Sciences.

In 2007, PJ joined the Air Force and became a Registered Dietitian with specialization in sports nutrition. In 2008, he was a key contributor to a High Intensity, Functional Fitness-Based initiative for the Air Force that improved average base fitness scores and decreased training-related injuries. The Program earned an Air Force Best Practice Award.

While in the Air Force, PJ spent nearly 1000 hours volunteer coaching at local CrossFit Boxes, and made a point to drop-in at more than 20 different affiliates to learn affiliate best practices.

He left the Air Force as a Captain in 2011 and returned home to Oregon to open CrossFit Tigard–a gym dedicated to smart programming, virtuosity in coaching, customer service, and accessibility to all levels.
