CrossFit is hard work, but getting started doesn’t have to be.
We are proud of our transition process that guides you smoothly from a complete beginner to a comfortable and confident CrossFitter.
Prior to joining CrossFit Classes, you will complete 3 one-on-one Skill Sessions with one of our expert coaches. You will learn to safely perform (or modify) 4 squat variations, 4 press variations, deadlifts, kettlebell swings, and the olympic lifts: the Clean and the Snatch. You will learn correct mechanics and progressions for bodyweight movements such as push-ups, pull-ups, box jumps, and rowing. Each day will also feature a dynamic warmup, mobility, and strategies to improve your individual movement mechanics and prevent injuries.
You will also receive a 6-week meal plan, complete with grocery lists and recipes. You will learn what, how much, and when to eat to enhance your health, performance, and body composition.
Throughout your on-boarding process, you will begin to build relationships with your coaches and fellow classmates and will build familiarity with our class structures.
After you complete your three skill sessions, you will gain access to our full schedule of CrossFit Classes.
What if I still don't feel ready for CrossFit group classes?
No problem! We offer Fit Fundamentals classes to close the gap between your On-Boarding and regular CrossFit classes.
FIT Fundamentals are a hybrid of bootcamp and CrossFit training principles; focusing on simple, primal movement patterns that are easy for beginners to pick up and join in, while challenging for veteran athletes who want to pin their ears back and just GO!
Instructors will take extra time to modify movements as needed–workouts can be scaled to be easier, or much harder based on your physical preparedness. Spending a month or two in Fundies classes is a great way to transition between your initial On Ramp Program and our intermediate/advanced CrossFit Classes.
Interested in even more attention?
We also offer private/personal training and going skill sessions if you would like more individualized attention
Virtuosity: doing the uncommon, uncommonly well.
It takes more than a weekend class and a certificate to make a good coach. We build our coaches like we build our athletes. With attention to all the necessary components of success.
A great coach must be able to:
1. Demonstrate Correct Movement
2. Communicate Effectively
3. See movement faults and identify their etiology
4. Correct movement
5. Modify movements based on injuries or physical limitations
6. Manage and lead groups
7. Connect with clients on a personal level
So all CrossFit Tigard – P.A.W. coaches go through a rigorous 6 month practical internship before they begin teaching their own classes. They accumulate shadow hours, attend seminars and workshops, train one-on-one, then teach small groups, and finally group classes. They are evaluated continually and given frequent feedback as they develop into expert trainers.
You will benefit from personal training if one or more of the following applies to you:
- You are training for a specific event or competition
- You desire in-depth instruction on particular skills such as olympic weightlifting
- You have significant past medical history or injury considerations
- You have unique schedule demands or time conflicts
- You simply prefer one-on-one attention to a group atmosphere
We offer personal fitness training tailored to you and your specific needs. Our expert trainers are more than “pin-setters” and “rep-counters”; we teach you valuable skills and expertly modify movements and workouts based on your past medical history and fitness goals. You will be encouraged, motivated, and empowered, all while developing a valuable relationship with your coach.
Personal Training Pricing: $60-85 per 60 minute session.
Please inquire. Personal training prices vary based on size of package.
We offer more than personal training and group classes. We offer both seasonal and ongoing specialty programs for members who are looking to work on their weaknesses, or for members who just want to mix it up a bit.
We offer the following programs.
Fit Fundamentals Bootcamp Classes
Nutrition / Diet Coaching
Our specialty programs help members tackle their weaknesses, and they simply provide more options for experienced members who want to try something new.
The strength of CrossFit lies in our community. From BBQs and pot lucks, to holiday parties, fitness competitions, and charity fundraisers, our members are more than just fitness junkies.
Fitness is something that should make your life better; it’s not something we think should dominate your life. We believe it’s important to be well-rounded people who know how to let loose, have a drink and socialize with friends.
And, we have learned that members who are engaged in the community are more likely to want to show up to the CrossFit to workout – because they show up not just to work out, but also to enjoy themselves socially.
CrossFit Tigard PAW is one of only a select few gyms in Oregon with a staff Registered Dietitian. PJ has been a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist since 2008 and has worked with chronic diseases, weight management, sports nutrition, military special operations forces, and everything in between. We are the subject matter experts on nutrition for performance and health. Whatever your goal, we identify your needs and barriers; and we develop strategies to keep you on track. We offer individual nutrition consultation as well as periodic nutrition classes.
There is no one diet that works for every person all of the time. Food types, amounts, and timing should be modified based on your goals, activity level, genetics, history, and preferences. Furthermore, we believe “going on a diet” to be a flawed mindset. Dieting suggests temporary fixes, while our aim is to help you find life-long eating habits and lifestyle practices which support your physical endeavors and health.
“In plain language, base your diet on garden vegetables, especially greens, lean meats, nuts and seeds, little starch, and no sugar. That’s about as simple as we can get. Many have observed that keeping your grocery cart to the perimeter of the grocery store while avoiding the aisles is a great way to protect your health. Food is perishable. The stuff with long shelf life is all suspect. If you follow these simple guidelines you will benefit from nearly all that can be achieved through nutrition.”
